How to take Celebrex
The dosage amount of Celebrex prescribed will vary from patient to patient. Always follow your physician's directions and/or the instructions on the prescription drug label. Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis:
- Adults - Between 100 to 200 mg twice daily.
- Children - A physician must determine use and dosage.

- Adults - Either 100 mg twice a day or 200 mg once daily.
- Children - A physician must determine use and dosage.

Treatment of familial adenomatous polyposis (polyps in the intestines):
- Adults - 400 mg twice daily with food.
- Children - A physician must determine use and dosage.

Treatment of moderate or severe pain, such as after orthopedic or dental procedures:
- Adults - Take 400 mg on the first day for the first dose and then take 200 mg as needed for the second dose. Beyond the first day take 200 mg twice a day.
- Children - A physician must determine use and dosage.

Treatment of pain during menstruation:
- Adults - Take 400 mg on the first day for the first dose and then take 200 mg as needed for the second dose. After the first day take 200 mg twice daily.
- Children - A physician must determine use and dosage.
Note: The strength of the prescription affects the number of capsules prescribed per-day. In addition, the time between doses, the number of capsules taken and the duration the drug is taken is dependant on the medical condition related to the prescription and the discretion of the prescribing physician. Always follow the directions given to you by your physician!
Missed Celebrex Doses
If your physician or pharmacist has directed you to take Celebrex medication on a regular schedule and you have missed a Celebrex dose you can take it as soon as you remember. However, if you remember close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Never double dose!

Bloody or black, tarry stools; continuing thirst; dizziness; drowsiness; headache, severe or continuing; nausea and/or vomiting; shortness of breath; stomach pain; sudden decrease in the amount of urine; swelling of face, fingers, and/or lower legs; tightness in chest and/or wheezing; troubled breathing; unusual tiredness or weakness; vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds; weight gain.
